For anyone following my blog- or following my not blogging, I’ve moved onto a new platform. Same stories, different content. at the end of 2023 life sucked. It took me a couple years to get back to being me. Then I had some of the best UCI racing in 2025.

That’ll do

I didn’t sign the contract to race with Tesseract in 2026. I’m now ‘retired’. Not done with riding, just a free agent. Gun for Hire. I’m racing Penny Farthing Worlds. I’m planning on breaking my own world record in the Human Powered Vehicle with MQ Speed.

Things are happening, just not on this blog

Anatomy of a bad idea

Some life decisions are better than others, and this was somewhere near the bottom. Future Lizanne is going to hurt.

All or nothing! Time to get epic. How a Track Sprinter conquered Everest

In case of total shutdown- plot an Everest. Famous last words.  I put the idea out to the universe, I had to follow through.

The concept of Everesting is fiendishly simple: Pick any hill, anywhere in the world and complete repeats of it in a single activity until you climb 8,848m – the equivalent…

I Quit

I quit. This isn’t a retirement, that would be a choice. I’m quitting because I can’t do this anymore.

Womens Cycling- Just a thought

Just a thought…  We need to do better. ***Updated***after a bit of discussion around the post we had a win. I’ve entered next weekends road race up in the Hunter.  I’m there to be social.  They said key words like coffee and BBQ.  My Club, St George CC put a call out for club members…

racing in 2020- Sometimes it be like that

2020, What a year.  Nothing represents the ups and downs of the year like my Strava account.  I was plodding along, slugging it in the gym.  After signing onto Tesseract a few months earlier, racing (and doing well) in a few CL1 track races, I was on track to get a start at one of…

Enthusiastic race filler

Enthusiastic race filler! That’s what I am, and I am damn proud of that. After I won nationals last year, I “retired*”.  To anyone around me, we all know that this is a joke.  I’m not finished, I’m not done, I’m not going to rack the bike.  This was the beginning of my ‘Victory lap…

Ghetto Training for the Commuting Competitor

Part 1- Introduction to ghetto training A wise man once told me- Ride your bike every day.  Ride for training, ride to work, ride for you.  It is the best thing you can do.  “Arthur Donnelly” Arthur was one of the first people to get me onto the track.  When I was starting out, he…

All the gears and no ideas- Part 2

By now, I’m assuming most of you have at least 2 track gears.  If you don’t get some> READ THIS, > then come back here. Track mechanics are very simple- you have a bike, no cables, and a fixed drivetrain.  In theory, a gear change should be fairly straight forward.  But, as with all new skills,…

Being an Athlete has taught me…

Being an athlete has taught me… If there is one thing being an athlete has taught me it’s; Knowing how to motivate yourself to keep going after you’ve cracked. Physically, mentally, socially. Being resilient enough to find the motivation to keep moving forward when you feel like you have nothing left to give. I practice…

I AM Canadian

and I’m damn proud of it! But in Cycling it’s one of the hardest things for me to do.  You see, me being an expat in Australia has set me up for isolation.  I’m too Canadian for the Australians and too Australian for the Canadians.   This leaves me in this constant state of limbo.  Sometimes…

To The Track! Getting to RAW Track

So what’s your excuse not to make it to Raw Track? Have to go home after work to pick up the bike? Sydney traffic sucks? You can’t get a lift? All of these are valid excuses, BUT there is a better way!  Have you ever considered the train?  Every 20min or so Sydney trains departs…

The comeback part 2- The ups of being down

This injury sucks. It happened at a bad time, actually it happened just before one of the most exciting times for me to be on a bike. In a moment, everything I had worked for was gone.  I was on the side of the road, dripping blood, and my season was over.  At this point,…

The comeback part 1- Race Reports

Week 16 was going to be my scan.  Week 17 was going to be team states.  Week 18 is going to be my comeback! I had my surgery, I followed instructions, I’ve been feeling great, and my only setback has been getting cleared to get back into things.  Last week after another re-schedule of my…

2016 Sydney Christmas Carnivals- Full Report

The Sydney Christmas Carnivals are done and dusted for another year.   Over the 5 days I re-posted the results along with photos and how the racing went down.  Most of the reporting is factual, and no names have been changed to avoid embarrassment. Day 1 Sydney Christmas Carnivals Dunc Gray Velodrome Hosted By Bankstown…

99 Days, not that I’m counting.

I’m 99 days post surgery.  And for anyone asking, no I’m not better, I’m not racing till April, and ish for being allowed to ride my bike. It’s hard because I look fine.  My scars are even disappearing.  But internally I have no idea if the magic tendon ferries are busy healing, or if they…

Default Status- Café Racer

A few days ago an Article popped up in my facebook feed.  Opinion: Keep the golf out of cycling.  And it reminded me of a Post of mine that totally blew up Back in September. Lizanne This! This is what’s wrong with cycling in Australia. A general hobby cyclist debating the needs for aero wheels…

Going nowhere fast.

I’ve been banished to the trainer.  My world has ended. Week 9 of forever! Being an athlete for most of my life, I’m used to injury cycles.  It happens.  Post injury, it’s all about the management.  And I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the easiest patient.  I see the word no as a…

Love thy saddle

This may come as a surprise; When i first started riding, I was an enduro.  I rode thousands of k’s each month.  After some of the longer rides, I ran into a problem.  Saddle sores.  Yep my nether regions didn’t like my riding as much as I did.  sometimes I rode through the pain, other…

War wounds.

As a cyclist it’s not a matter of if you will fall it’s a matter of when.  For most racing cyclists there are two types.  Ones who have done their collar bone… Fingers crossed my time done in the sling will go towards any future time.  Could I trade my shoulder reconstruction for any possible…

While you are reading put this on in the background <—– this is not optional! 10000 laps that’s 3333km Well I recon a whole lot more, but as the saying goes, ‘If it’s not on strava it didn’t happen’ A few months ago officially completed 10 000 laps of Tempe velodrome.  This was never really a goal, but…
